La Place d'Armes

La Place d’Armes

La Place d’Armes is a vast esplanade lined with royal palms and cannons that runs through the center of the avenue that links the port to the majestic Hotel du Gouvernement, the oldest building on the island. It was built in 1735 by the French governor Mahe de Labourdonnais, who founded the city. Unfortunately, you can not go inside.
