The Four Seasons bought this classic hotel and gave it a major facelift 2014. The architects retained the Westcliff’s charm, but updated its look. The hotel’s once signature pink color is gone in favor of more neutral tones. Once chintzy decor is beautifully modernized, and the food has had a significant update as well.
Remaining the same are the sweeping views of northern Joburg, a vista that’s especially sought after when jacarandas bloom in October. Balconies overlook the zoo, so you can watch the elephants in the distance. Guests have reported hearing the lions roar at night.
Some work is still underway to open the restaurants, but the hotel is open now.
