The Iron House is a steel building that was designed by Gustav Eiffel who is most famous for designing the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France which was also built by his company. It was meant as the governor’s home. The tropical heat of Southern Africa made it unbearable to use as a home, but now it’s air conditioned and hosts a small museum to Mozambique’s pre-colonial history.
It has become an attraction side for visitors who come to Maputo even though some come just to get a view of this iconic building that has become more of a heritage sight.
