Walking into Amatuli Artefacts is like stumbling into Ali Baba’s cave, if the 40 thieves had a particular interest in African and Indian art and furniture.
Inside are Benin bronzes, Nani dolls, Ashanti stools, Indian upholstery, dugout canoes… all in industrial quantities. Which doesn’t mean that it’s impersonal. The space is enormous, and crammed full of treasures so it’s easy while away the morning exploring. Downstairs has even more Tonga stools and larger furniture items.
The terrace in front is home to Milk Bar, which opens at 6:30am for breakfast. After hours, it turns into a bar that extends into the upstairs space.
